Why we won't list certain sites!
Come On Aussie Dot Com is a directory of Australian web sites.
Essentially, the criteria for inclusion involves two things:
- the business is based in Australia (with VISIBLE Australian contact details) or
- the web site content is about Australia.
We are prepared to assist legitimate Australian small business operators by providing free listings for their web sites. On many major search engines (such as Google) our listings appear ABOVE the main business web site entry on the majors, because of our site's high page rank. That in itself is a tremendous bonus for the busnesses listed with us!
However... we are not prepared to offer that benefit to certain web sites, and may remove - without notice - any submission/listing deemed inappropriate, including some listings related to many "home based business opportunities" for the reasons stated below!
Why do we "discriminate" against these listings?
At a very early stage in accepting submissions we were getting an extraordinary number of listings for a whole variety of "home based businesses" - specifically herbalife, onehomebiz and cgio etc.
We found several things in relation to these listings.
Many :
- are all very "similar" to one another - just different affiliate id tags - attached to a turn-key, templated site
- quickly "expired" as the affiliates moved on to some other "opportunity"
- have overseas - i.e. non-Australian - organisations as their parent company
- don't have easily visible Australian contact details on the site
- don't mention their "real" product name on their pages
- are pyramid schemes
- require a minimum monthly spend on your own products to participate
Which means:
- multiple similar listings offer little or no value to the people browsing this web site
- the ongoing maintenance required for this type of listing is excessive
- don't satisfy original "Australian" criteria as specified in our general terms and conditions
- don't satisfy "Contact Details" criteria as specified in our general terms and conditions
- this product "cloaking" is a deceptive method that doesn't do much to inspire confidence
- illegal in many states/countries and we don't wish to promote them
- doesn't fit our personal definition of a legitimate "small business"
As far as any banner ads and the "sponsored" links which may appear for such businesses... these advertisements have been paid for by distributors who are prepared to run their business in a businesslike manner, as opposed to the hundreds of other distributors who are seeking the easy and free option - hopefully getting traffic and an income from a "free" listing on this site, for which we pay the expenses and run as a business.
